Crystal Bowl Meditation

Join Ramona Crabtree-Falkner for an Evening of Vibrational Bliss.

You will take a journey of vibration to the sound of crystal singing bowls. The toning of the bowls resonates with your energetic body to help clear away blockages within your chakra system and allow you to experience mental, emotional and physical release and balance. In addition, your physical body will experience a profound state of rest.

During the sound meditation, you will rest comfortably on a yoga mat supported by bolsters and blankets if desired. Bring water if needed and plan to drink plenty of water before and after the session.

Yoga Camp October 2014

Had a wonderful yoga camp with beautiful fall weather.  The best thing about yoga camp was the campers!  We opened our bodies, minds, and hearts.  And everyone, including me,  learned more about yoga and living yoga.   Already looking forward to the next Yoga Camp!

Kirtan

Join us after Yoga for All class for Kirtan, sacred chant.  Eric will play harmonium and lead the call and response chanting.  Simple percussion intruments will be available.

KIRTAN is the yoga practice of immersing oneself in the ancient sound vibrations of sacred mantras. It is a participatory experience, uniting the audience and the performer in the chant, bringing about inner awareness and contentment. The mantras are primarily in the Sanskrit language, allowing one to experience Kirtan in its original form. The repetition of mantra is a simple and joyful way of calming the mind and experiencing rejuvenation and well being.

We will chant Jaya Ganesha. We plan to repeat Kirtan with this chant for a couple of months in a row to help the participants get comfortable with it (which makes the experience more enjoyable!)

You will simply lie on the floor and listen to my voice. The meditation will last about 45 minutes. This practice may bring about healing on many levels and allow you to experience a sense of wholeness and connection with all things. See for yourself.

You might want to bring a small blanket and/or pillow.  Wear comfortable clothing.

Yoga Camp at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center

We had a great time at Yoga Camp in March.  The yogis shared two cabins at Steven Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.  We practiced yoga in the fresh air (prana rich!), hiked, ate healthy vegetarian food, and had time to get to know each other better.  I’m already looking forward to the next Yoga Camp in May!

Love Is in the Air

Love is in the air.  As we approach Valentine’s Day, typically a celebration of romantic love, you may like to  reflect on love in a broader sense.

We do a simple but profound exercise in yoga.  We sit with the spine straight, close our eyes, and bring our hands into prayer position with the palms and extended fingers pressed together.  The backs of the thumbs rest at the middle of the chest, which is often called “the heart center.” Sitting quietly, we draw our attention internally to the heart center, and we form an intention:  to open our hearts to receive and give unconditional love and to grow more compassionate towards all of humanity.

You might be surprised how meditating on opening your heart and infusing your life with more love can expand the way you think of love. Love can certainly be a tender, deep feeling shared between two people, but it can also be experienced as the ground of your whole being.  Meditating on love brings forth the insight that you are filled with love, and as you live life aiming to become your highest self, you are becoming love.

According to yogic wisdom, if there are unwanted qualities in your nature such as greed, anger or lack of self-discipline, instead waging war against them, which rarely works in the long run, you can cultivate the opposite attribute. Eventually the opposite quality will replace the unwanted one.  It occurs to me that what is opposite of most undesirable qualities is love.

Can’t you imagine the presence of unconditional love dissipating anger?  Won’t love result in giving and sharing and thus annihilate greed?  And when you unleash unconditional love upon yourself, won’t it begin to dissolve negative attitudes about the self that give rise to destructive habits?

Meditating on love, broadening your concept of it, and cultivating it in your heart, could further you on the journey to becoming your highest self.  And this is a gift far, far more precious than roses, chocolates and a Hallmark card.
